The story of Split began when Roman Emperor Diocletian decided to build a palace for his retirement days here, on a peninsula close to the great Roman city of Salona. Many centuries later, that palace and the city that was born within its walls was to become part of UNESCO's World Heritage List. A city where you can enjoy top-notch gastronomy, film, theatre, music festivals and exhibitions and if you want to avoid the urban bustle, there is the green oasis of Marjan forest park and kilometres of beaches giving onto crystal clear water.

In the motherly embrace of four mighty fortresses, Šibenik emerges from a truly unbelievably beautiful bay. Walking around this ancient city is like travelling through time, from antique-era monuments to modern day cities where you will enjoy outstanding architecture, visiting museums and numerous events which define an old world charm that will absorb you into its special state of mind.

Plitvice Lakes is Croatia's best known national park and the Croatian natural jewel that is on the UNESCO List of World Heritage sites. The main attractions of this park, unique in the world, are the 16 small lakes joined by waterfalls created by the sedimentation of travertine, a special type of limestone. This national park encompasses the source of the river Korana, located in the area surrounded by dense forests of beech, fir and spruce. There are also several caves in the park, as well as springs and flowering meadows. The popularity of this park is also boosted by the special means of transport used to ferry visitors around: the panoramic electric trains and the noiseless electric-powered boats. It is impossible to say whether the park is more beautiful in the spring, when the flowers in its meadows are in full bloom and when the trees have turned green again, or when the riot of autumn colours is reflected in the waters of the lakes, or indeed during the winter calm, when ice petrifies the waterfalls and when the surrounding trees are heavily laden with snow. By a network of paths, visitors can get around and access the numerous waterfalls and the rocky lake shores easily. Truly Magical.!

A place where the mountain emerges from the sea offering from its tips and gazebos unforgettable panoramic views of the Makarska Riviera and the areas around Biokovo. Other than its position, Biokovo is unique also because of its geomorphology and its biological diversity, which were the main reasons the Biokovo Mountain was proclaimed a Nature Park with an area of high natural, scientific, cultural, educational, tourist and recreational values during sightseeing.

The defence system of Zadar and the Šibenik fortress of St Nicholas are listed on the UNESCO List of World Heritage as two of the six components of the transnational series of the cultural asset of the Venetian Works of Defence between the 16th and 17th Centuries, an exceptional historical, architectural and technological testimony to the “alla moderna” system, developed over the territory of the ex-Venetian Republic as a response to the introduction of new firearms technology in military operations. To defend Šibenik from the Ottoman fleet on a rocky crag at the very entrance to the Šibenik channel the mighty fortress of St Nicholas was built according to the drawings of Gian Girolamo Sanmicheli in the form of a triangle, on three levels, and it represents an extraordinary example of an isolated bastion fortress, that makes it the largest and most powerful fortress in the Adriatic and a key point of defence on the maritime route between Venice and Corfu as well as a point of threats by the Ottoman Empire from the land. 

The Emperor’s Palace is one of the most significant works of late-ancient architecture, not just for the preservation of original parts and the whole, but also for a series of original architectural forms announcing the new early-Christian, Byzantine and early-medieval art. The cathedral was built in the Middle Ages by using materials from an ancient mausoleum. Roman churches from the 12th and 13th centuries, medieval forts and gothic, renaissance and baroque palaces are contained within the Roman walls, thus creating a harmonious whole.
